To manage stress, it is important to find healthy coping mechanisms such as exercise, dancing or deep breathing. You might also consider spending time in nature or engaging in a hobby that brings you joy.

Exercise

Regular exercise can help improve thyroid health by increasing metabolism and reducing stress. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day, such as brisk walking or cycling. You might also consider incorporating strength training exercises, which can help boost metabolism and improve overall health. Avoid caffeine and screen time before bed, as they can interfere with sleep quality. You might also consider creating a relaxing bedtime routine, such as taking a warm bath or reading a book.

Also be sure to purge your bedroom of all ambient light. Remove digital clocks and even be sure to flip your phone over so that the notifications don’t light up the phone. The pineal gland can sense ambient light and alter melatonin levels as a result.

Nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting thyroid function. A diet rich in whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins can help provide the nutrients needed for optimal thyroid function. Additionally, certain foods such as iodine-rich seaweed and selenium-rich Brazil nuts can specifically support thyroid health. You might also consider incorporating probiotic-rich foods like Greek yogurt and kefir into your diet, which can help support a healthy gut microbiome.

Drinking clean, filtered water can specifically improve thyroid health. Unfiltered tap water can contain contaminants such as chlorine, fluoride and radioactive toxins, all of which can interfere with thyroid function.
